What's your flavour? - Earl Grey Tea

I am coffee person. I have to admit this because I can't live without coffee and I have to take coffee at least once a day (used to, though). I've always love tea too but well, I prefer coffee over tea. Ever since I work in shift, I find it harder for me to control my sleep and drinking coffee contributes to my sleep deprivation and anxiety. So I tried to take tea instead. Among all the tea flavours that I've tried, I'm hooked with Earl Grey Tea. I love the smell. I love the taste. And it's calming. Wikipedia defines Earl Grey Tea as,
"a tea blend with a distinctive flavour and aroma derived from the addition of oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, a fragrant citrus fruit"

I've tried a few types of Earl Grey Tea from different tea company and each one does have distinctive taste.

The 3 Early Grey that I've tried are from Mark's & Spencer, Twinings and a local tea company, Cameron Valley

Earl Grey from Marks & Spencer

Earl Grey Tea from Cameron Valley

Earl Grey Tea from Twinings

I love both from Twinings and Cameron Valley. The ones from Marks & Spencer's a bit too strong for me.

So, if people ask me "Why do you like Earl Grey so much?"

I must say the three reasons are:

1) It smells good. Some of you may think it smells like an "old man" BUT whatever. It does smell "old" but it reminds of age and wisdom
2) The taste is exquisite. It's not too heavy for my taste and it's not too light either.
3) It's calming. So from Livestrong.com, it says that "The bergamot in Earl Grey tea has been known to have a calming effect in people. Bergamot can also boost a person's mood. These two qualities make Earl Grey tea a good natural solution for people suffering from depression, stress, anxiety and severe mood swings. The bergamot in a cup of Earl Grey is refreshing and relaxing for people under tension." Guess it's true.

There you go. Why don't you give it a try today for your afternoon tea? Earl Grey and Scones. Perfect combination! At least for me it is :)
